The new ViewSonic Pro 8 Series offers an attractive entry into the installation class from Viewsonic. Thanks to their 5200 lumens of light output, all three projectors offer high brightness for installation in larger meeting rooms, classrooms or smaller conference rooms.

 

The new Pro8 models

The new ViewSonic Pro8 series is divided into three different models, which differ primarily in their resolution. These are the following:

ViewSonic Pro8520WL (WXGA resolution – 1280 x 800 pixels)

ViewSonic Pro8530HDL (Full HD resolution – 1920 x 1080 pixels)

ViewSonic Pro8800WUL (WUXGA resolution – 1920 x 1200 pixels)

 

The projectors, or rather the chassis, look identical except for a plaque with the abbreviation of the units resolution at the front.

With the three different resolution classes, the ViewSonic Pro8 series projectors cover today’s resolutions and offer the best prerequisites for different content types and budgets.

 

High flexibility

The Pro8 series offers flexible optics and vertical lens shift.

The lenses provide a 1.6x Zoom, which provides a flexible installation in terms of distance or image size. This makes them attractive both for smaller and larger rooms. Since the lens values are coupled to the resolution, they look as follows for the three projectors:

ViewSonic Pro8520WL (Projection Ratio: 1.12-1.8)

ViewSonic Pro8530HDL (projection ratio: 1.07-1.71)

ViewSonic Pro8800WUL (Projection Ratio: 1.07-1.71)

 

The vertical lens shift allows for manual adjustment of the image on the screen. This is an advantage, especially in the case of slightly higher ceilings, since you can better align the picture this way without losing quality.

If the optical alignment via lens shift is not enough, the Pro8 series projectors offer vertical and horizontal keystone correction. Thanks to the 4-corner correction, the image can be digitally fine-tuned and precisely matched to the screen.

Another noteworthy factor is the central lens position. Thanks to this, the projector can be installed in a more visually appealing way. In addition, the installation is easier when the optics are aligned with the screen.

PortAll compartment

A new feature that ViewSonic introduces with the Pro 8 Series, is the Port All Slot . It is located under the casing of the projector and offers enough space for some practical solutions that have also been introduced to the ViewSonic portfolio. The PortAll range offers a MHL-capable HDMI interface, via which various adapters can be supplied with power. In addition, there is a micro USB cable, via which power can be supplied. This is particularly interesting for solutions that are not MHL-capable.

Among the options that can be used in PortAll range include the optional WPG Adapter (Wireless Presentation Gateway dongles) or the new optional ViewSonic HDBaseT dongle. This HDBaseT dongle is so small that it is significantly easier to install than other solutions on the market.

Sonic Expert Sound

The Sonic Expert Sound technology, introduced in recent years by ViewSonic, is also used in the new Pro8 series projectors. All three projectors (Pro8520WL, Pro8530HDL and Pro8800WUL) offer a 2 x 10 Watt stereo loudspeaker. This means a meeting room or classroom will not require any additional speakers saving on purchase costs and their installation.

Supercolor technology

The Super Color technology used by ViewSonic is also used in the Pro8 series. It ensures the most realistic possible color reproduction for DLP projectors. These work with a RGBCYW color wheel. Compared to other devices with such a color wheel division, the colors of the Super Color technology are even more effective.

 

Network management

As is the case with most installation projectors, the ViewSonic Pro8 series devices offer hands-on network management capabilities. Thanks to the Crestron RoomView Express support, the system allows you to control and monitor up to 250 projectors from a single computer. Even if such a large number of devices are rarely used in one place, you will get an insight into the possibilities that are available to you.

 

Connections

The ViewSonic Pro8 series interfaces are very versatile. A particular highlight is that they offer a total of four HDMI interfaces. Three of them are on the back, the fourth HDMI input is in the PortAll area. Besides the HDMI interfaces, the selection of the other connections is also large. This includes two VGA inputs, one VGA output, one RCA video input and one S-video input. A LAN, a RS232 interface, an IR and a 12V trigger output are available for controlling the projector screen. There are also audio outputs on 3.5 mm jack base as well as audio inputs on stereo RCA and 3.5 mm jack base. Add to this a 3D Vesa connection and a 5V DC USB interface. As you can see, a great variety.

Conclusion

The new ViewSonic Pro8 series not only makes a good impression at first sight, but also our live test convinced us of their quality. Thanks to their chassis size, they can be installed unobtrusively on the ceiling and are still suitable for placement on the table. With the cable cover for the back of the unit, they are even more appealing! The selection of the resolutions is up-to-date and offers a suitable solution as required or budgeted.
All in all, the new projectors of the Pro8 series make a good impression and offer space for a range of exciting accessories.
