The Epson EHTW5100 is a compact Full HD 3D projector in a appealing white housing reminiscent of the black TW5200. The TW5100 offers a light output of 1800 lumens and a contrast ratio of 13,000:1. Where connections are concerned the TW5100 is very well positioned for a projector in this class as it offers two HDMI inputs, one of which is MHL enabled.
Thanks to its 3D technology, it is suitable not only for home theatre use, but also for gamers. There are a wide range of games on the Playstation and Xbox that can be played in 3D. Like the rest of the Epson range, the projector also offers both vertical and horizontal keystone correction of +/ 30 degrees making positioning the projector very easy. If sound is required, the projector also offers 2 x 1W stereo speakers you can fall back on if some better speakers are not available.
The Epson EHTW570 offers an HD ready resolution of 1280 x 800 (WXGA) whilst also supporting the direct 3D capability. Its chassis is black as is the norm for the HD ready home cinema projectors from Epson. Its a more powerful projector than the TW5100 we mentioned above offering 3000 lumens and a contrast of 15,000:1. So not only does it provide a good brightness but a reasonable black level too.
The Epson EHTW570 does only offer one HDMI port but it does offer MHL capability meaning tablets and smartphones can be connected directly via cable. As above it offers horizontal and vertical keystone correction of +/ 30 degrees and the internal speaker is a 2W mono.
The TW570 also supports the optional wireless capability like projectors in the Epson business range, meaning that content from iOS or Android devices using the Epson iProjection app can be projected.
Both units offer a gaming mode meaning they are perfect for online gaming, ensuring there is no lag time on the display. They also both work with the Epson ELPGS03 3D shutter glasses.
